Review: Rush Salon Hair Range

Rush Styling Products

M&S have collaborated with the luxury London based hair salon Rush to create the Rush Salon Range. Made for all hair types, which consists of nine styling products and are all under £10!

I was lucky enough to be sent the Ultimate Blow Dry Lotion* (£6) and the Light Hold Mousse* (£6) which comes in sleek, simple packaging and are generously sized at 200ml.

Ultimate Blow Dry Lotion

The direction says to use 2-3 pumps on towel dried hair but as I have fine hair I only used one, which I ran through the mid lengths to end. Avoiding the roots as any products I apply there tends to make my hair greasy, then blow dried as normal.

Straight after blow drying I’m normally left with frizzy ‘just been electrocuted’ hair, but surprisingly the blow dry lotion left my hair soft and smooth without being weighed down and had no signs of dry ends or fly aways.

On this day, I attended a concert and decided to curl my hair, which throughout the day tends to drop and loose shape but gave this product the benefit of the doubt. Plus I had a sea salt spray in my bag to create mermaid waves just incase!

However, it exceeded all my expectations! From curling my hair at 9am all the way till bed time it held its shape, battled against the wind and kept fizz at bay.

Light Hold Mousse

I’m not normally a lover of mousse, it leaves my hair crunchy or weighs it down, so I was hesitant to try the mousse. However, I done it for you guys (because I love you!) on towel dried hair, applying a small hand sized amount of the mousse all over. Then as I was blow drying I twirled strands around my fingers to try and get a mermaid effect.

Which turned out well on my normally straight with a few waves hair, I didn’t feel weighed down and the texture was soft. It does say the mousse helps ‘frizz reduction’ which I didn’t see but blow drying does make my hair frizzy so can’t fault it, in addition, my hair did have the ‘moisture and shine’ as promised.

However, due to the constant rain for the past few days I wasn’t able to test the humidity protection or lasting effect. Hopefully when the weather gets better I can give a thorough review.

Conclusion

I definitely recommend the products, the blow dry lotion has already become part of my hair care routine. As for the mousse, I like the freedom of movement it gave me. I’m considering trying out their other products, at the budget friendly price tag and being cruelty free it’s not hard to see why. I’ve always struggled with styling products for my fine hair but at last I can see light at the end of the tunnel!

The Rush Salon Range are exclusive to M&S and can be purchased here.

And that’s it!
