Benefit Roller Lash Mascara vs Benefit They’re Real Mascara

Benefit Roller Lash vs Benefit They're Real

Benefit launched a new mascara called ‘Roller Lash’ which is said to be the new cult product, and ELLE Magazine is giving it away for free with their March edition, four weeks before you can buy it in store.

So why does this mascara stand out from the others?

Well it’s said to have the ability to curl your lashes without having to use an eyelash curler, the brush was inspired by Velcro hair rollers, and the flexible wand has little rubber hooks that gently grab your lashes which curls them.

So let’s put it to the test against Benefit They’re Real, the current favourite mascara by many.

(Before applying the mascaras I only curled the side which held They’re Real so I could see if Roller Lash does curl my lashes on its own.)

First Coat

L: Roller Lashes - R: They're Real

Left: Roller Lash – Right: They’re Real

Roller Lash: I found the application a little difficult using a slim wand with its slight curve and tiny bristles, I’m use to the opposite. There’s nothing special about the formula, standard texture in my opinion. I liked how the small bristles helped to separate my lashes as well as curling them.

They’re Real: I love the spikes on the end of the brush, they help to coat the corner lashes and any awkward ones in between. However, the formula is gooier than I’m familiar with, I had to wipe the wand before apply.

Second Coat

L: Roller Lash - R: They're Real

Left: Roller Lash – Right: They’re Real

Roller Lash: My lashes are noticeable thicker and longer, they didn’t clump but I recon if I applied another coat they would. Also, they have curled and lifted really well, it’s great!

They’re Real: There is noticeable length but gave no volume to my thin lashes, sigh. There was a little bit of clumping but no bad. Don’t get me wrong, I do love the mascara with its spiky ball on the end, but I can think of other mascaras that give the same results for half the price.

Winner: Roller Lash

It’s surprising when you find a mascara that does what it says, hurray! Benefit Roller Lash Mascara will be available to buy in store on 28th February 2015 and retails for £19.50.
